Who we are
Veenode Learn is an online training platform for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, run in partnership with The Victor Akinode Foundation. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website and services, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to this website, to our learning platform, and to the emails we send you.
By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the service. This document is written in plain language and is not a substitute for legal advice.
The short version
We collect only what we need to run a cohort and support your learning. We do not sell or rent your personal data, we do not run advertising, and we do not place third-party advertising or tracking cookies on this site. We email only people who gave us their address directly, and every announcement email has a one-click unsubscribe. You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you at any time.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information, and only where we have a reason to:
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number and country, so we can create your account, enrol you and stay in touch.
- Application and enrolment details: the track you chose, your cohort, your employment status, your background and experience, and the answers you give on our application or scholarship forms.
- Learning records: your progress, marks, feedback and lab results, so we can teach you and show how you are doing.
- Payment information: what you have paid and what is outstanding. Full card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach our servers.
- Referral information: your referral code and who used it, if you choose to take part.
- Communications: messages you send us, and our replies, so we can support you and keep a record.
- Technical information: basic data your browser sends when you visit, such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view, used to keep the site secure and working. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
We collect this information directly from you when you fill in a form, create an account, make a payment, or contact us, and automatically through the strictly necessary cookies described below.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account and enrolment.
- Deliver the programme, including classes, materials, labs, marks and feedback.
- Review applications and select participants for our cohorts and scholarships.
- Process payments and keep accurate financial records.
- Send you service messages and, where relevant, programme announcements (see Email communications below).
- Respond to your questions and provide support.
- Keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Depending on where you live, the legal bases we rely on include performing our contract with you, your consent (which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interest in running and improving the programme, and compliance with the law.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies, the ones the site needs to function. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Because all three are strictly necessary, the notice at the bottom of the page tells you about them rather than asking you to accept them. You can clear these cookies from your browser at any time. You will be signed out, and the site will otherwise work as normal.
Email communications
We only email people who gave us their address directly, by creating an account, applying to one of our programmes, or enrolling in a cohort on this website. We do not buy, rent, or scrape email lists, and we do not send unsolicited mail.
The mail we send falls into two groups. Service messages keep your participation running, such as sign-in and account emails, class links, application updates and onboarding. Programme messages are occasional announcements to people who have applied to or joined us, such as an application decision or news of the next intake.
Every announcement email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Once you unsubscribe we stop sending you that kind of mail and keep a record of your choice so we do not contact you again by mistake. How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone. We share it only in these limited ways:
- Service providers: we rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the platform, for example to host the website and its data, to deliver our email, and to process payments. Each provider only handles the information it needs to do its job, only on our instructions, and may not use it for its own purposes.
- Veenode Labs: practical work happens on Veenode Labs, a related platform we also run. When you sign in there, we pass across your name, email, the tracks you are enrolled on, and whether your enrolment is active. Labs sends back how you did on each lab. Your marks are stored here on Veenode Learn, in one place.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if the law requires it, or where necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the security of the service.
- Business transfers: if the programme is ever reorganised or transferred, information may pass to the successor, who will remain bound by this policy.
International transfers
Our learners are spread across many countries, and the providers that help us run the service may store or process information in countries other than your own. Wherever your information is handled, we take steps to make sure it stays protected in line with this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account with us and for as long as we need it to run the programme and meet our legal and financial obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. You can ask us to delete your data sooner, as described below.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and limiting who can see your data to the people who need it to do their work. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
Your rights and choices
Subject to your local law, you can:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Object to or ask us to limit how we use your information.
- Ask to receive your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent where we relied on it, without affecting past processing.
- Unsubscribe from announcement emails at any time.
To exercise any of these, email hello@veenodelearn.ca and we will respond. Deleting your account while you are enrolled will end your access to the programme, so we will confirm with you before acting. If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
Children's privacy
Our services are intended for adults and for learners of the minimum age permitted in their country to consent to this kind of service. We do not knowingly collect information from children below that age. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will give you clearer notice. Please check back so you always know how your information is handled.
